Adaptie is a service that enables citizens to “adopt” and take care of specific areas or maintenance tasks designated by the city. The city can offer a variety of areas or tasks, for year-round, short-term, or one-off “adoption”. In other words: Adaptie is an online service that gives cities the opportunity to connect with its residents, with the goal of improving the local area for all. Cities can offer certain areas or maintenance tasks out for “adoption” to residents, who can choose to care for that area in exchange for certain benefits. For example, citizens can participate in the improvement of their neighborhoods by taking care of children's playgrounds or communal front gardens, cleaning sidewalks, raking leaves, clearing snow, cleaning gutters, cleaning recycling areas, etc.
