The purpose of the system is to facilitate patient intake for medical practices. NextDocVisit optimizes patient intake, so that the patient is assigned to the best suited medical practitioner in the practice.

The system accomplishes the optimization of patient intake through an intake questionnaire. This questionnaire has 5 questions - Complaint, Duration of Complaint, Referral Source, Payor, and home zip code. A proprietary algorithm translates the patient's responses to the intake questionnaire into a score from 0 - 1000. This score is used to determine the practitioner to use - the higher the score, the higher the desirability of the patient, the higher qualified and billing the practitioner is who should see the patient. Also, the algorithm determines the service line for the patient and assists in determining the best location for the patient based upon geographic preferences.
