Challenge

To develop a portal and an indicator system for a quality management system. The main issue for students and academic staff was that all relevant and most important information was scattered over various systems and sources; therefore, it was very complicated to find and update it. The aim was to create a portal where all the important information related to studies could be stored in a single place.

Prototype

A prototype system was developed in cooperation with student representative body and administration of KTU. The prototype was designed to reveal the proposed idea and help both parties understand what the solution should be like. Programming The portal includes the following solutions: general user login, information import from other information systems of KTU, indicator collection and representation system, pathways and process of bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree, survey module integrated with KTU’s systems. Technologies used: PHP, CSS, HTML, MySQL, Oracle, JavaScript.

Result

An attractive and user-friendly portal for both students and academic staff was developed. The most relevant documents and information can be found in a single place. The portal moreover provides the opportunity to learn more about the entire study process as well as contribute to the improvement of study quality in the university.
