Having skills assessment at the core of its recruitment platform, Skillfully goes far beyond the conventional CV evaluation. The platform creates a bridge between three key stakeholders: businesses seeking talent, educational institutions (universities and schools), and students entering the job market. The core value proposition lies in its ability to provide skills-based candidate rankings through assessment quizzes, enabling more informed hiring decisions.

Skillfully is an innovative recruitment platform that revolutionizes the traditional hiring cycle. Instead of relying solely on candidates’ CV, it allows businesses to find the perfect candidate for each role by offering assessment quizzes. Students take quizzes and get a rank based on their score and these are presented to employers during job fairs or businesses directly contact them to get that info. Then business representatives make a hiring decision by having that ranking scores data in hand.

One challenge in developing Skillfully was integrating with Qualtrics' webhook system. While Qualtrics was a good choice as a survey tool for this project, but its webhook mechanism occasionally experienced delays. This delay impacted user experience, as it was crucial to provide immediate feedback on quiz completion and performance.

To address the webhook delay issue, we implemented an error handling mechanism and retry logic. This ensured that the user's data was eventually processed, even if the initial webhook request failed. Additionally, we provided clear and timely feedback to users, regardless of any technical glitches.

We started the development from scratch. We integrated Qualtrics' API to embed quizzes within the Skillfully platform. We developed a reliable backend system to process quiz results, calculate scores and rankings. The team consisted of one frontend developer, one backend developer, one full stack developer and a project manager. We implemented Kanban methodology for project management and used ClickUp to keep track of tasks, milestones, deadlines. We had daily internal team meetings for progress tracking and regular client meetings three times a week.

We successfully delivered a fully functional MVP ready for market entry. The platform now effectively delivers skills assessment quizzes, processes and ranks candidates based on quiz performance. It facilitates data sharing with potential employers and supports educational institution partnerships. Later in V2 there would be login functionality for businesses as well. In this way instead of manually passing the data to them, they would be able to enter the platform and view it.
