Stord is a supply chain management and warehousing startup that aims to orchestrate, scale, and optimize its customers’ supply chains with a single platform. Their omnichannel solution is dedicated to companies that need visibility and full, easily accessible control over their inventory.

Stord was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Atlanta, GA.

The customer was looking for a team able to take care of both the back and the front-end of their platform. Their cloud-based solution enables businesses to implement end-to-end visibility into their supply chains from a single dashboard, hence optimizing their operations across freight, warehousing, and fulfillment. All of this without the need to constantly switch between different platforms. What the project was all about was integration - there was a plethora of various sub-tools and 3rd party solutions to be integrated with Stord’s system. We’re talking data analytics & data science tools integration, Salesforce integration, multiple various dashboards integrations - you name it. Our talented team took care of all of that.

The goal In order to satisfy every single technical and business requirement of our customer, we’ve implemented multiple tools and solutions and taken care of the integration processes. To resolve issues with multilevel queue scheduling and microservices management, we’ve implemented a plethora of SAGA architecture patterns. Besides focusing strongly on the back-end part of the task, our team also took care of the front-end functionalities.

The goal was to provide Stord’s clients with the best, most intuitive, and easy-to-use system for their complex operations management. We worked hard to make the platform user-friendly, implementing filtering mechanisms and developing custom data analytics dashboards.

Challenge This unique project was multidimensional, so there were a couple of different challenges along the way. First off, chain supply management and logistics is a complex and very demanding industry, and it was crucial for us to deeply understand Stord’s business requirements and needs. We had to deep dive into the processes, operations, and insights their clients require before we could jump to the development phase.

Secondly, due to the nature of the platform that had to be integrated with many 3rd party systems and solutions, our team had to implement and integrate various microservices. We needed to make sure that platform users have access to the most accurate, synchronized data from the long list of services we’ve integrated.

Another tricky task was related to the multilevel queue scheduling - our team was simultaneously developing functionalities and reversing them as they went to make sure there are no pain points within the platform. On top of that, the project was set in a very fast-paced environment, with Stord being an extremely quickly growing company. While exciting and challenging on one hand, on the other it can be extremely difficult to manage a software development project in such evolving circumstances. Gladly, we’re no amateurs when it comes to custom project development, so we knew how to fulfill Stord’s requirements.
